A little departure from my normal blogs

With the weather being so bad over the last week (a month’s worth of rainfall in 24 hours!) on Saturday I took myself off to Appleby in Wesmorland railway station to see the arrival of a special charter steam train. The ‘Scots Guardsman’ was on a charter from Scarborough to Carlisle via the Settle to Carlisle Railway and was due to stop for water in Appleby. Although the day was overcast and wet, it added to the atmosphere of days gone by and made for a good photo opportunity as you can see below.

Even when the lake District weather is awful, there is always something to do and see – what a great place to live and visit!
